Making a positive impact

London Community Foundation

The Organisation

The London Community Foundation (LCF) plays a vital role in supporting local communities across London. Their primary focus is on connecting funding partners with grassroots organisations to help address the unique challenges these communities face, enabling them to make a real difference in people’s lives.

The Challenge

LCF were facing a time of substantial change, and the leadership team wanted to ensure that colleagues were not only supported, but also had a platform to voice their thoughts. This was LCF’s first-ever engagement survey, and they recognised the importance of gathering honest feedback to guide them through this transitional phase, they therefore sought an experienced third-party provider to assist in the process.

The Approach

The Survey Initiative was recommended by another client as a trusted partner to deliver a staff engagement survey that would provide actionable insights. Our approach was designed to uncover the true sentiments of the workforce, helping LCF gain clarity on any underlying issues that may have been overlooked.

The Results

Once the survey closed, we collated the results, and our research team set about analysing the data and breaking down the findings. We first presented the conclusions to the senior management team, followed by a presentation to all LCF colleagues.

The results were impressive: every single survey participant at LCF expressed pride in their work, and many questions regarding wellbeing and line management received scores of 100% positive. They had a lot to celebrate! However, the survey results revealed a couple of areas for improvement, and these findings surprised the leadership team, who realised the need for immediate action.

The Solution

We provided strategic recommendations for LCF to address the identified areas for improvement. In response to the feedback, they have already started to make changes. But that’s not all – looking ahead, they are also gearing up to launch a pulse survey at the start of 2025. This will monitor their progress, ensuring they maintain those amazing high scores, and measure the shifts in areas identified for development.

The Impact

Following the presentation of the results and the changes put in place, LCF colleagues have already expressed feeling heard and valued, leading to increased positivity about any changes on the horizon.

Leadership Feedback

The leadership team was particularly impressed with the presentation of the survey findings delivered by, director, Gary Cattermole. The clarity and depth of the analysis provided gave them the confidence to make informed decisions about the next steps.

Nicola Jaworska, Governance and Operations Manager has the final word, “I highly recommend The Survey Initiative as they were so helpful throughout the whole process, offering guidance on the most suitable survey for our small company.  Also, the service provided after the survey in terms of the reports and presentation to staff was first class.  Thank you!”
